My Summary
About Me
KS1 - phonics, reading & writing tutor
I am an experienced, confident, and creative teacher specialising in KS1 phonics, reading, and writing. I am fully trained in Read, Write, Inc. and Letters and Sounds, and I have also utilised various other programmes, including Little Wandle. My teaching approach is designed to capture students' enthusiasm for learning through creative, personalised lessons that meet their individual needs and provide appropriate challenges.
I encourage active participation, inquiry, and discovery, supporting children in becoming independent learners. I also have a strong interest in mental health and wellbeing, which I am happy to incorporate into lessons to equip children with tools for self-regulation and calm. I love seeing children have their own "aha moments" and watching their confidence grow as they make progress in their learning.
I believe in maintaining open communication with parents and provide regular updates on their child’s progress to ensure we work together in supporting their learning journey.
I offer 1:1 tutoring (or group sessions upon request) in the following areas:
- KS1 or children working at this level
- KS1 homework assistance
- Phonics and reading
- Writing
I also create phonics and mindfulness resources for kids/teens.
I travel to your location for all sessions. Please get in touch if you're interested or have any further questions!
My Experience
I am an experienced primary school teacher with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and have been teaching for over 12 years, primarily within KS1. I focus on building positive relationships with pupils and creating an environment where children want to learn. I have taught in a diverse range of schools, including local authority, academies, international schools, and independent schools, utilising various curriculums and programmes, including the EYFS framework, National Curriculum, and International Baccalaureate.
I also have a keen interest in mental health and wellbeing, integrating activities into the school day to help children develop skills for self-regulation and calm. Additionally, I create wellbeing and learning activity books for children, further supporting their educational journey and personal development.
