My Summary
About Me
I’ve looked after many people throughout my life from adults to newborns, toddlers, teens and children with special needs. I feel really passionate about helping people and supporting them which is why babysitting/being a nanny always brings me joy; knowing I’ve helped a family and made a difference to their life. I also love cleaning so I would always be more than happy to help families with that around the house! My first language is Russian, I have a Level 1 in BSL, I am fluent in English and currently am studying English Language and Linguistics at Reading University.
My Experience
I have experience with young children and supporting them with their learning because when I was a Nanny through an agency I supported a 4-year-old girl and her 9 year-old-sister with their homework tasks which included maths, as well as cooking them meals, entertaining them and cleaning the home. I have also travelled to Lithuania to aid my sister with my niece and nephew, my nephew has special needs (ASD), I also supported him and my niece with his homework which included learning English and also working with my nephew, working with his ASD difficulties and supporting him. My nephew is not the first child I have looked after with ASD as have looked after a young boy (age 9) who is non-verbal therefore, I was able to put my skills of patience, understanding and empathy into practice again when babysitting. I babysit a young toddler (age 3) as well. For all of the children I have prepared meals for them, helped them with homework, got them ready for bed or school taken them outside and made sure they are well looked after. I have also supported the young boy with ASD, his sister and mother travelling to Spain earlier this year in May. Despite the challenge of a 3-year-old toddler and a non-verbal boy with ASD, it was really rewarding supporting them and seeing them enjoy themselves, as well as eye-opening to how everyday people treat people with ASD, making me want to go into the SEN field even more. Working with children who have special needs and have behaviour that challenges is no easy task, and a huge responsibility, but it is a responsibility that I take pride and value in. Every child desires to feel heard, understood and welcomed.
