My Summary
Childminding That Feels Like Home, With The Space And A Nursery. Ofsted Registered. Funded Spaces
About Me
Hello! We’re Kerry and Nathaniel — two passionate, Ofsted-registered childminders offering something truly special in Erewash.
We run Little Warrens Den from a warm, purpose-designed setting that blends the personal touch of a childminder with the space, structure, and resources of a nursery. It’s a nurturing place where children from 8 weeks to 11 years can play, learn, and grow — supported by a small, skilled team who genuinely care.
But we’re not just “another childcare provider.”
At Little Warrens Den, we believe childhood should be magical, meaningful, and full of wonder. Inspired by Scandinavian early years principles, forest school values, and our own years of experience, we create an environment where children thrive — emotionally, socially, and developmentally.
Nature and real-world learning are at the heart of our day. We go outside in all weathers, explore our community, and follow the seasons. From local woodland wanders to baking bread, catching the bus, or visiting the library — children here don’t just play, they experience the world.
We follow the child. Our days are shaped by their interests, emotions, and developmental needs. We blend free play, meaningful routines, and gentle adult guidance to create rich learning opportunities through play — never pressure.
You’re part of the journey. We work in partnership with families, sharing moments and milestones, adapting to what each child needs as they grow. Your voice matters here.
We welcome funded and private places, wraparound care, babies, toddlers, preschoolers, and home-educated children — each child is valued as an individual and becomes part of our Little Warrens family.
If you’re looking for childcare that feels more like a second home than a service… you’ve just found it.
My Experience
Between us, we have over 13 years of hands-on experience working with children of all ages — from tiny newborns to lively school-aged explorers.
We’ve worked in nurseries, preschools, school settings, and private homes, gaining a deep understanding of what children need to feel secure, happy, and free to learn. Our own parenting journey has only strengthened this — giving us firsthand insight into the emotional side of childcare from both a professional and parental perspective.
We are especially experienced in:
• Supporting babies and toddlers with strong routines and nurturing care
• Working with children with SEND and additional needs, including autism, allergies, and communication differences
• Encouraging independence and self-regulation through child-led routines
• Providing wraparound and school holiday care that is fun, flexible, and developmentally meaningful
• Offering enriching experiences for home-educated children, blending social learning with real-world skills
What makes our experience unique is how we’ve chosen to apply it. At Little Warrens Den, we’ve designed a setting that doesn’t just look good on paper — it feels good in your child’s heart. Every decision, every routine, and every space is shaped by what we’ve learned truly works: warmth, connection, consistency, and freedom to explore.
Our biggest strength? We genuinely love what we do. And children feel that the moment they walk through the door.
My Qualifications
At Little Warrens Den, every child is supported by qualified, experienced adults who are deeply committed to continuous learning.
You can trust that your child is in safe, capable hands — with warmth and professionalism at the heart of everything we do.
? Our core team qualifications include:
• Level 3 Early Years Educator or equivalent
• BSc (Hons) in Child and Family Health and Wellbeing
• Enhanced DBS checks
• Full Paediatric First Aid certification
• Safeguarding and Child Protection training
• SEN Awareness and Inclusion training
• Food Hygiene Level 2
But we believe true quality goes beyond certificates.
We stay up to date with the latest research in early childhood education, child psychology, and inclusive practice. We regularly complete CPD (Continuing Professional Development) in areas like trauma-informed care, outdoor learning, neurodiversity, and communication-rich environments.
We also reflect daily on our practice as a team — asking what’s working, what could grow, and how we can better meet each child’s unique needs.
We’re not just qualified — we’re passionate about why we do what we do.
