About Me
I am passionate about education, especially linguistics. I have just completed my first novel and can cook, paint, draw, sing and speak/tutor intermediate German and Spanish. I studied Latin at school so have an excellent grasp of grammar.
I am active, patient, innovative and fun but understand the importance of firm boundaries, structure and achieving results. My versatility and tuned-in instincts mean that I can think outside of the box and respond to individual needs, providing inspiration, confidence and scope for independence of thought.
I want to feel a connection to those I am working with and for and know that this can be realised by performing the role of governess. I can offer a myriad of talents and enormous, wide-ranging expertise to ensure that your child or children are tutored and supported to the highest level in a safe and genial manner.
My Experience
I served as Chief of Staff for fourteen years to a prominent Cabinet Minister until this summer. Previously, I was a research assistant, writer and office manager to several senior backbench MPs and a former shadow minister so I am used to being efficient, meeting deadlines and dealing with people in a diplomatic manner.
In my late 20s, I was head of English for Year 9 at a private girls' school near Tokyo and a TEFL teacher during my degree so I have a decent amount of teaching experience.
I was a p/t nanny to four children in the late 90s just before university and coming from a large family, I have been around children all my life. I am also lucky to be Godmother to three wonderful girls.
My Qualifications
I studied for a BA (Hons) in Politics and have a TEFL qualification when I worked as an English tutor at Newport College on the Isle of Wight.
I taught German and Spanish to my Japanese students (aged between 11 and 18) and have an excellent working knowledge of several other modern languages, including French.
I do not have clearance in the orthodox sense but I have signed the Official Secrets Act through my role in Parliament. I am discreet and trustworthy, having been exposed to highly confidential and classified information and have dealt with government departments as well as many senior agents and the former personnel in Number Ten Downing Street.
