My Summary
About Me
Hi families, I'm a compassionate, fun, creative, reliable, nature loving person who is great with kids and flexible with time!
I am a trained actor and drama teacher (ie. expert storyteller and imaginative play buddy), ocean swimmer (and ex swimming teacher!) and I love a park walk, cycle or library visit or crafternoon.
I like to cook simple healthy meals and though I personally eat most vegan and gluten free I am happy to prepare food suitable for your children's diet.
I'm a calm presence, I believe in creating safe and encouraging environments for exploration and curiosity. I value the balance of rest, fuel and play, of times for concentration and times to let loose, so I try to offer enough of the safe and familiar with some adventure and imagination thrown in.
My Experience
16 years on and off babysitting, child minding, nannying work and community care.
I grew up caring form my little brother who is 12 years younger than me, this gave me an excellent grounding in caring for newborns and toddlers which has allowed me to help families in the first stages of parenthood as a babysitter and nanny throughout my teens and twenties.
I have worked as a babysitter/nanny (for kids aged 2 months - 12 years), and as a swimming teacher and drama teacher for kids as young as 2!
The last family I nannied for had two little girls ages 2 and 4 when I began and I was with them 1 day a week 10-4.
I am a person with good practical sense, empathy and a lot of domestic know-how. Though I haven't yet got a DBS check, I am very happy to do so. Also happy to provide my Australian WWCC ('Working With Children Check' is the Australian equivalent to DBS, and potentially more relevant as I have lived there up until this October!)
I have my full Australian driver's license which allows me to drive in the UK for at least a year in case that's useful for school pickups etc. (I am yet to see if it is worth me getting a UK license as I am not planning to own a car while living in the UK.)
My Qualifications
Bachelor of Dramatic Art (Acting)
4 years teaching drama to children at the NIDA Open (National Institute of Dramatic Art, Sydney, Australia)
Bronze Medallion Swimming teacher - lapsed in my teens! But I am more than capable of pool play and some skills if we go for a swim :)
I also speak French, completely fluent but confidently.
My Availability
My time is very available as I am quite new to London, so at this point I can be very flexible! Just let me know what you're looking for and it is highly likely I will be able to make it work. I am Norbury based until late December when I will be in Deptford for the foreseeable future.
