About Me
I am a qualified primary school teacher and I am offering tutoring in subjects across the early years and primary curricula. I build strong relationships with children and families and I provide a supportive, welcoming space for children in which I strive to make learning fun, active and engaging. I match my teaching to the needs and interests of each individual learner. I can help address gaps in learning and accelerate progress in numeracy (maths up to National 5) and literacy (including phonics, reading comprehension, spelling, writing skills etc). I am also able to support in areas such as primary school French and across the full primary and early years curriculum. I am happy to offer support within a specific area / subject or to provide tutoring and support across the curriculum.
I have a proven track record supporting children with a broad range of additional support needs. I make use of a wide range of tools to support learners (e.g. drawn from the dyslexia toolkit, autism toolkit, visual stress assessment, digital tools etc).
My Experience
I have worked as a primary school teacher for over 20 years, teaching classes from P1 to P7. For 3 years I worked in the special needs sector and for 2 years I worked as a learning support teacher. I have extensive experience working with children with a wide range of ASN, including autism, ADHD, dyslexia, dyscalculia, hearing and vision impairments, English as an additional language and emotional / behavioural difficulties. As part of my management remit I have had the pleasure of being responsible for the Early Years Class for 6 years and this has built up my skills and knowledge working with this age group.
