My Summary
About Me
Hello, I'm Sevgi Karahasan, a dedicated and qualified childcare professional with a strong background in primary education. Since 2021, I have been working closely with children from nursery to Key Stage 1 (KS1), teaching and providing a range of services including face-to-face tutoring, online tutoring, babysitting, and nannying in my free time. My passion lies in fostering children’s growth and development through a nurturing, engaging, and supportive environment tailored to meet their unique needs. Currently studying MSc Psychology part-time alongside supply teaching.
My Experience
I have been a Reception teacher since 2021, delivering engaging lessons aligned with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework. I completed my Early Career Teacher (ECT) program, where I also led the art curriculum and tracked children's progress using assessment tools such as Evidence Me. I have taken on long-term teaching roles at across Hertfordshire and North London (Enfield), where I was recognised for my ability to consistently manage classrooms effectively and create tailored lesson plans that support children’s individual learning journeys.
As a supply teacher, I successfully adapted to diverse primary school environments across London, teaching various year groups and building strong relationships with students and staff alike. Beyond teaching, my experience includes volunteering with Family Based Solutions from 2018 to 2022. In this role, I worked with families to overcome challenges such as child-to-parent abuse, using solution-focused strategies to promote healthier relationships and improve emotional well-being.
My Qualifications
Master’s Degree (In Progress): MSc Psychology, University of Hertfordshire (completion January 2026), focusing on child cognitive and emotional development.
PGCE in Primary Education: University of Derby.
BA Education Studies (First-Class Honours): University of Hertfordshire, awarded the Jenny Plastow Prize and Gold Go Herts Award for academic excellence and contributions.
My Availability
From January 2025 to February half term I am only available Fridays. After February half term I will have a lot more availability alongside supply teaching.
