Hi parents, I'm Mel. I've been working with children for 11 years now. I love being able to support children in their development and being able to teach skills to set them up for life! I'm an outgoing and friendly person who enjoys being outdoors and exploring nature. I describe myself as a creative person and someone who enjoys learning new things.
My Experience
Over the years I have experienced many different settings. I started my career in a nursery and completed my training. Working there I was able to experience working with babies, toddlers and pre school. After I qualified I was then a key worker for a group of toddlers. I worked in the nursery for a few years before moving on to being a learning support assistant for children who needed some extra classroom support. Shortly after this role, I got my first nannying job! Being a nanny has given me the opportunity to really use my imagination to help children learn in the home environment with age appropriate activities that stimulates their learning and development. Nurturing and encouraging children to reach their potential is the most rewarding thing in this career. As a nanny I enjoy being outdoors arranging play dates or day trips to museums or soft plays but for the rainy days, being indoors with a range of activities and getting children involved with cooking/baking is also just as fun!
I currently work in an independent school as a teaching assistant for pre reception. This role has given me experience with the school structure. At times, I will help teach such as phonics or basic maths and other subjects.
