Job Summary-

We are currently seeking a Personal Assistant to join the team supporting Mim, a 25-year-old neurodiverse woman with chronic health conditions.

About Mim-

Mim is an incredibly creative and capable woman with a great sense of humour. She is a qualified and practicing Speech and Language Therapist with a particular passion for helping children with complex special needs learn how to communicate. Outside of work Mim enjoys board games, arts and crafts, going to choir as well as making and selling polymer clay earrings.

What we’re looking for-

For this role we are looking for a caring, kind and enthusiastic individual who has a genuine passion for supporting others. We are looking for someone who alongside any work responsibilities can also develop a connection and friendship with Mim, someone she can laugh, have good conversation and enjoy her time with. Someone that understands that despite the challenges she faces, she is a 25-year-old woman who wants to enjoy life.

Responsibilities-

• Driving to and from both social activities and work (using Mim’s wheelchair adapted car).
• Personal care, such as help with washing.
• Supporting Mim’s communication, medical and emotional needs.
• Helping Mim to enjoy her day, encouraging her to access the community and attend fun, social activities.
• Help with household tasks, such as cleaning.
• Meal preparation.

Requirements

• No previous PA or care experience is required as all training is provided by us. If you believe you are right for the role we’d love to hear from you.
• Driving license- as the shifts often require driving Mim to work or social activities, a valid driving license is required. A car is not required as Mim has her own Wheelchair Accessible car.
• Due to car insurance the applicant must be at least 25 years old.

Job Type- Part time

Shift availability-
We are currently moving things around in terms of the weekly shifts, so there are many different shift opportunities available.

However, we are especially keen to find someone for the 12 hr Saturday shift 11am-11pm every other week. In Mim’s words ‘the long Saturday shift is super-duper important to me, as it allows me to be like everyone else; I can do whatever I want, whenever I want to throughout the day as I have someone with me all day to help facilitate any activity. It’s also important though that I feel like I am spending time with a friend/peer, just enjoying our weekend together’.
