My Summary
Welcome To Nurturing Childcare By Jojo
About Me
I am a married Mum with two amazing teenage daughters.
I am insured, have a clear Enhanced DBS Check and have been trained in Paediatric First Aid to Ofsted requirements. I like to keep up to date and enjoy learning.
I love working with children and observing their unique behaviours and interests. This enables me to support them in a way that suits their individual needs.
I enjoy getting to know more about your children through your experience as their parents and carers, as this helps me to support them in the best way possible.
I am fascinated by the rate of children’s development in the early years. I also have a special interest in speech and language development and supporting children with additional needs. I enjoy talking, reading and singing to and with babies and children, as well as finding ways to increase their sensory experiences in a positive way.
I love spending time outdoors, experiencing the changing seasons and sights and sounds of nature. I love to encourage a sense of curiosity such as spotting birds and squirrels and observing snails and woodlice up close.
I stepped away from my role in Early Years to look after one of my children due to their medical needs. I have worked night shifts in retail and as a hotel spa cleaner during that time. I am looking forward to being able to support you in caring for your child or children now that I am able.
In case it is important for you to be aware, I am a non-smoker and do not vape or consume alcohol.
My Experience
I have raised my own children and have experience with Autism, ADHD, Epilepsy, Tourette’s Syndrome, Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS), Myalgic Encephalomyelitis, Night Terrors, Food Allergies and Colic.
I have volunteered in a Special School, working with children with complex needs.
I have worked in an amazing nursery rated Outstanding by Ofsted, where I had the privilege of working one to one supporting children with Autism, Global Developmental Delay and Prader-Willi Syndrome. I also gained experience in recognising and responding to the needs of children with Diabetes. I worked with children with English as a Second Language and attended training for best practice in supporting them.
I worked as a Special Needs Teaching Assistant at a Nursery and Infant School where I was responsible for planning and implementing speech and language and additional support for around 40 children across the provision from 2 to 7 years of age. I created my own timetable to coordinate one to one and small group work, with each child having 2 to 4 sessions with me every week. This was a dynamic and rewarding role where I was proud that all the children had fun while making good progress with their targets.
I am fortunate to have been trained by six Speech and Language Therapists, two I worked with closely and four who provided additional training courses I attended. These courses include Makaton, Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS), Cued Articulation and Selective Mutism. The training I received from these wonderful people enabled me to successfully provide support for all the children I had the pleasure of working with.
