About Me

Hi, my name is Paula and I have been childminding for over 15 years. I provide a warm and inviting home from home type setting where the children are supported in all aspects of their learning in an inviting and safe environment where they are each valued as a unique individual. They are encouraged to make independent choices whilst supported at all times. I ensure that I work in partnership with parents and encourage a two-way flow of communication where I give every parent regular updates on their child's progress via a daily diary and pictures. And where I encourage parents to provide their input if they wish to regard the day-to-day activities etc. All of the learning areas are covered in the setting. The people who live in the setting are my husband Wayne, and our two sons, Jake who is 24 yrs old and Ethan who is 17 yrs old. We also have two puppies which joined our family recently. Both are very good with the children and I have found that the children have engaged very well with them and thoroughly enjoyed the experience so for.
Being a parent myself I understand that leaving your child with a stranger is one of the hardest things for any parent to have to do, which is why I definitely recommend settling in sessions where possible for your own peace of mind and also to provide the right settling in approach for each individual child as they are all different.
All the people in the household over the age of 16 years of age have a fully enhanced CRB/DBS. I am registered with the EHO and ICO for your peace of mind. I have full liability insurance for the business. I ensure that all my training is kept up to date, all of which are required by me as part of my registration regulations.
I also love to participate in regular training to continue to build the business and ensure that I can continually provide the best possible learning experience for all the children I care for. However, much of the play is child led where the child has as much choice as they like and I provide adult-led and planned activities, where the children are encouraged to join in but never forced. They are encouraged to make positive choices for themselves so that they grow to be confident and productive individuals.
The experiences and activities I provide on a daily basis ensures that your child learns to be independent and they leave me hopefully with the skills they need to ensure their transition into nursery is smooth and a happy experience.
I ensure that your child is valued and feels loved. I endeavour to ensure that the care I provide gives your child the best possible opportunities to learn whilst not forgetting to have lots of fun in a safe and warm environment where they feel not only included and welcomed but also a valued member of my extended family.
I ensure that there are nobarriers to participation as much as humanly possible, and welcome everybody. I will also where possible provide the level of care you expect from me, all I ask from you is that you always know that you can discuss anything with me and I will listen and provide help if and where needed.
I hold a full clean driving license which I have held since 1993 with full cover insurance should I need to take your child in my car complete with appropriate safety provisions for example appropriate car seats for babies and booster seats for older children.
My setting is a home from home environment both relaxing and welcoming to all where the whole family gets involved in one way or another. All children are encouraged to explore where they have as much freedom to explore with very few restrictions in the home whilst still ensuring that they are safe and that they learn about safety themselves.
They each have their own personal items provided by me such as hair brushes, toothbrushes, eating utensils, etc. so they feel like they are home from home unless your wish to provide these for your child yourself.
There is also always someone to hand to help your children with their homework should you wish us to provide that level of support. Both of my sons have excelled academically and are only too willing to provide support if asked
We all enjoy the time we spend with your family and I am open to any suggestions from you which you feel may be beneficial to the setting and the service it provides.
I will follow the routines that you have already established with your child and provide the level of care to your child that you expect as a parent.
I hope that if you have chosen me as your child's carer in your absence that you will feel comfortable discussing anything with me no matter what it may be.
I love nothing more than spending time with my grandchildren in my spare time. Going out for meals with my family and going out and about getting regular exercise.
