Maternity Nurse Job Spec – Twins (October Start)
Location: Barnet, London
Start Date: October 2025 (exact date TBC)
Duration: Approx. 8–12 weeks with potential to reduce hours as confidence and routine develop
Babies: Fraternal twins (first-time mum)
Accommodation: Bed available in nursery for overnight stays (not live-in, but rest space provided).
Parents and nursery all on the same floor, nursery with it's own ensuite available.
Support Schedule
*Daytime: Monday–Friday, what would be the hours you provide?*
Overnight: 3 nights/week, approx. 10pm–7am flexible on times.
Flexibility appreciated; eventual tapering of hours as needed.
*Role Overview*
We are a warm and welcoming couple expecting fraternal twins this October. As first-time parents moving in with family in Barnet, we're looking for an experienced, calm and supportive maternity nurse (or two, if day/night split is required) to help us navigate the early weeks of twin parenthood.
This is a non-live-in role, though we provide a bed in the nursery for overnight shifts. We're open to someone local or willing to commute, and want someone who is gentle, knowledgeable and confident supporting both mum and twins.
*Duties & Responsibilities*
For Mum:
* Support and guidance with feeding (breastfeeding and/or bottle).
* Gentle support for recovery post-birth or c-section (guidance, rest, emotional reassurance).
* Teaching and empowering mum with twin care routines.
For Babies:
* Feeding support (bottle prep, winding, breast support, night feeds).
* Twin-specific routines and care guidance.
* Sleep settling and sleep training support.
* Bathing and hygiene.
* Bottle sterilising and nursery upkeep (e.g. cot sheets, laundry)
* Infant stimulation/enrichment (talking, tummy time, developmentally appropriate activities).
*Ideal Candidate*
* *Experience with newborn twins (essential)*.
* Maternity nurse qualification or extensive hands-on experience.
* Paediatric First Aid certified.
* DBS checked.
* Calm, supportive, discreet and flexible.
* Pro-breastfeeding and supportive of mum’s choices.
* Able to collaborate with extended family members in the household respectfully.
