About Me
We are a fun, kind neurodivergent family of three: myself, my husband and my 12 yr old son. We have pet gerbils. We like playing Xbox, splashing in the paddling pool, water pistol fights, humorous books, mangos and hula hoops.
My Requirements
Summer work as a Play Worker 1:1 with a neurodivergent child
We are looking for a lovely, fun companion to befriend our 12 year old son.
Ideally an undergraduate who would like to gain experience of working with an autistic young person who has a stammer and is anxious and unable to attend school.
We are looking for someone who can do the following:
is good at playing with children
is interested in learning to support our son to develop his confidence with social communication in a neuro-affirming way.
will be happy to spend time in our house and garden in Chandler’s Ford, Hampshire (because our son is finding it really hard to venture out and about due to his high levels of anxiety.)
Commit to about three hours a week, split into two sessions (additional hours might become available)
Is available over the summer months
Our son likes lego, some board games, imaginary play with lego, Xbox, gentle rough and tumble or slow motion foam sword fights. We have a sensory room with swings and things to bounce on, a garden with a paddling pool, trampoline and climbing frame. So lots of ways to play.
