My Summary
About Me
Hello :)
I’ve been working as a childminder since 2011, and am based in Trumpington, Cambridge.
I care for children from 6 months old upwards.
The children in my care enjoy a fun and welcoming environment, and a wide range of activities ranging from baking and craft to bug hunting, den making and forest walks (“Bear/Gruffalo Hunt’s”...) We visit toddler/baby groups regularly, and enjoy lots of outside play and exploration time.
I have a mixture of 'styles' as to how I structure our days together, but I'd say for the most part I'm inspired by the Steiner and Montessori approaches, and many of my activities and resources reflect this. Lots of Natural learning and life skills, a strong focus on social and personal development, and self-confidence. We follow the EYFS and each child in my setting will be encouraged and supported with all areas of their development throughout their time here with me. I observe their learning and interests, and use this information to plan appropriate activities and experiences for them.
We enjoy lots of open ended and child-led play, which I feel is the very best way for a child to learn.
Lots of hands on learning experiences, small world play, exploring, cooking and trips out and about.
I aim to give the children a rich and varied assortment of experiences and encourage them to participate in as many different activities as possible.
I consider it an important part of my role in the children's lives to have strong and positive relationships/communication with parents, which ensures that all the children’s individual needs are met and any problems or anxieties are smoothed out as soon as possible.
I pride myself on the feedback I receive from families, especially when children feel my setting is a home-from-home for them. The close bonds they form with both me and their playmates is very special :)

We are so grateful to Leonie for the amazing care and love she gave to our daughter for the two years she was with her. She very quickly became an extension of our family and we all adored her. Leonie is such a wonderful and warm person and she provides such a nurturing and enriching environment for all the children she cares for. Our daughter had some wonderful experiences with Leonie and made some magical memories. She still speaks very fondly of her Nini.
Leonie looked after our son after school a couple of days a week - our son really enjoyed his time with Leonie. We have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Leonie to anyone.
Leonie has been a truly fantastic childminder for my two daughters over the last few years. She is warm, friendly and creates a safe and inviting environment for the children. With daily park visits, trips to local attractions and lots of outdoor play, my girls were always busy. We can’t recommend Leonie highly enough and feel incredibly lucky to have had her as our childminder. She is 100% reliable and incredibly knowledgeable as both a childminder and a parent.
We cannot recommend Leonie highly enough. Our daughter spent nearly 3 very happy years in her care, and it was a wonderful experience for her (she still talks about those years often, and with much fondness). As parents we couldn’t have asked for a better start for our daughter, we felt so happy and comfortable leaving her each morning knowing she was cared for so well and she was having such lovely time. Thank you for everything NiNi!
We are always happy to – and did – recommend Leonie to others as our son had such a happy time with her.
Our son spent over two years at Leonie's; he settled in very quickly and continued to enjoy going there. Leonie has a great rapport with all the children she looks after and is very affectionate with them. She was also helpful when it came to practicalities like potty training and encouraging him to try a range of foods.
He often brought home drawings or artwork that he'd created while at Leonie's, they regularly baked and there was clearly a full range of toys available. We also liked the fact that she always made an effort to take the children out and about, whether to the local parks or further afield on outings. Before lockdown, we would often see Leonie at the local library and our son would also talk about the books he had read at Leonie's.
