My Summary
About Me
Hi i'm Jo :) or Jojo to my little ones!!
I am a fully qualified Nursery Nurse, Level 4 Early years practitioner and Ofsted registered Childminder with 23 years experience in a variety of Early years Settings, I have been registered with Ofsted since 2006.
I provide a day based on learning through play and child initiated activities, I carefully plan learning opportunities to meet the current needs and interests of the Children,
I aim to encourage Childrens curiosity through play and develop their independent skills, encouraging them to have a go, explore, join in and have fun in their Early years.
I have a welcoming, open plan living area and large kitchen diner allowing plenty of space for free play or a variety of planned activities to take place.
I have a play room which can be used as a calm space with sensory lights or messy play depending on what the Children require at the time :-)
I also have a downstairs toilet which allows me to maintain supervision of all children and offers independence to young children.
I have a full set of policies and procedures in place, ensuring that the wellbeing and safety of children in my care is of paramount importance at all times.
I work with an Ofsted registered, First Aid trained Assistant, I feel this benefits the Children greatly as Children receive one to one care throughout the day and supervision is fully maintained when cooking lunch or spending time with Parents and Carers.
I believe Children learn best through natural play, when they are curious and interested about the world around them, learning becomes easy!
Our days focus on Communication and language development, personal and social development and physical development whilst having fun and creating memories!
Throughout the week we enjoy going for walks, exploring the woods, visiting parks, learning Spanish, sharing photos, stories and books, messy play activities, exploring sand and water, singing, dancing and playing instruments.
The Children love to paint, bake, cook, draw and we celebrate festivals and special events.
I aim to engage each child fully in everything we do, they all help with preparing lunch, this may be peeling vegetables, chopping fruit, buttering bread and laying the table, the Children are encouraged to make healthy choices and develop their independent skills when choosing activities, I encourage them to explore the world around them and take appropriate risks.
We encourage independence and critical thinking, we talk about growing, staying safe, inside and outside the home.
We prepare Children for School and learn to share and take turns.
My pre school Children learn to use a laptop and each have their own Reading eggs and Maths seeds program which supports early literacy and maths skills, they are awarded with certificates and their progress is tracked and shared with Parents.
We have role play areas and dressing up, small world characters, cars, trains, dolls house, farm/zoo play sets, puzzles, games, building blocks, sensory equipment, instruments and a piano which the Children enjoy using daily, we also have a safe, stimulating outdoor environment.
We have Spanish lessons once a week with Kidslingo, this has been fantastic for the Childrens confidence and their listening and attention skills.
The Children in my care are treated like part of our family, I hope to make them feel comfortable, happy, excited to learn and confident in themselves and my aim is to put a 110% into making that happen!!
I follow the Early years foundation stage and Birth to five matters framework, through following policies and procedures I comply with all welfare requirements.
I observe Childrens development and plan for their individual needs, focusing specifically on the prime areas of Development-
Personal, Social and Emotional, Physical and Communication and Language development.
Alongside the prime areas Children will be encouraged to develop skills in all other areas of Development such as Literacy, Mathematics, Understanding the world and Expressive art and Design.
I share information and progress with parents through daily discussion, phone calls, text messaging, photographs and an ongoing learning journey. Working in partnership with Parents is something i feel is so important and enables a consistent approach to each Child's learning and development.
I work with other Professionals where necessary such Health Visitors, Speech Therapists or Childrens services.
As a parent myself I understand that finding the right setting for your child can be a really anxious time, you may feel nervous, apprehensive and unsure of making the right decision, I offer a free of charge settling in period and an open door policy for this reason, allowing you to visit, call or text as often as you feel comfortable with, I like to develop positive relationships with parents and share information in order to make settling in comfortable for everyone!
I can provide references off past and present parents for peace of mind if necessary.
I live with my Husband and our 14 year old Daughter, our Daughter is brilliant with the little ones, she also enjoys playing the piano, trampolining and swimming, in our spare time we love to visit new places, spend time with Family, listen to music

My son was being looked after by jo and jon.
I can honestly say there setting is amazing, every child that goes there is loved an cared for as a if they were there own children.
The setting itself has everything you could ask for an more. Theres always an exciting activity or adventure for little ones whether its soft play or bug hunting.
It truly is home from home its comfortable, clean and very child friendly they really couldnt do any more.
My son loved both jo an jon and so do i. The only reason my son was moved was due to distant. We were both devastated to leave an could not find another childminder that came even close to jos standards.
You are both amazing and thanks so much for all you have both done for me and reg.
He will really miss you both. Xx
Our daughter had been with jo for 2+ years, she adored jo and the rest of the family, she always enjoyed herself, jo provides great activities for the children in the home or out of the home on days out and playgroups, this was our daughters first setting from being 1 years old and she settled in perfectly thanks to jo's caring nature, she also went above and beyond to help with our daughters speech problems and to help us accommodate family & working life. I would highly recommend jo.

Jo has looked after all 3 of my boys aging from 10-2. I can say after her being my 3rd childminder she is by far the best and most trusted person I have left my children with. Her home is very welcoming and child friendly, she has activities and events she does regularly. I will miss her greatly. In the words of my children "best childminder ever"

Ahh thank you! We will miss you all too x
We first met Jo and Jon when we were looking for a childminder for my 4 year old son. I was nervous about sending my son to a childminder but they both were lovely and my son was comfortable straight away with them. My son started going to Jo in September and very quickly settled, he would look forward to going after school. Jo would send photos of what my son was doing and how he got on at school. If my circumstances were to change in the future I would go back to Jo and Jon in a heartbeat.

Our daughter (Lexi now 13 months) has been with JoJo now since April/May 2016. We have found Jo to be an extremely compassionate & capable individual. She is caring and nurturing and shows genuine joy and affection when minding our daughter as well as having a great sense of fun. She clearly has a wide breadth of experience in looking after children and has always made us feel confident in her ability to look after and care for Lexi. This is super important to us because Lexi is our first child and Jo is our first experience of child care. Jo is excellent at planning activities for the children, with daily activities such as soft play, crafts and baking. We are always excited to see what she has been up to and what pictures/paintings we have to keep. Furthermore Jo has played a huge part in our daughters development in that she has given her guidence in manners, play, sharing and of course her loving care, all of which she documents daily in Lexi's own book for us to read when we get home. I cannot stress enough how I would not hesitate to recommend Jo (& her Husband Jon) as a childminder and have found her to be extremely competent, conscientious and trustworthy. I would have 100% confidence that she would be able to offer any child in her care everything that is required and more.
