My name is Sandy, and I am a highly experienced Registered childminder based in the beautiful village of Llandough, Penarth. With a passion for nurturing young minds and supporting working parents, I have been providing exceptional childcare services for an impressive 28 years.
At Sandy's Childcare, I offer full-time and part-time places, as well as wrap-around school care for Ysgol Pen Y Garth, Fairfield Primary School, and Llandough Primary School, Penarth. I understand the challenges faced by working parents, and I do my utmost to be as flexible as possible, accommodating their needs and ensuring peace of mind.
One of the joys of my work is taking the children under my care to various parks, beaches, and other exciting outdoor destinations. As an outgoing person, I believe in the importance of exploring the world around us. These outings provide valuable opportunities for children to engage in physical activity, develop social skills, and deepen their connection with nature.
Creativity plays a central role in my approach to childcare. I truly enjoy working with children, encouraging their learning through play, in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) guidelines. By fostering a playful and stimulating environment, I strive to ignite their curiosity, cultivate their imagination, and facilitate their holistic development.
Music holds a special place in my heart, and I love sharing this passion with the children. In my home, you'll find a piano, and my background includes years of studying singing and piano as a hobby. Introducing the children to the world of music not only enhances their appreciation for the arts but also contributes to their cognitive, emotional, and social growth.
My Experience
With 28 years of experience as a childminder and my registration with CIW (Care Inspectorate Wales), you can trust that your child is in safe and capable hands. Throughout my career, I have cared for hundreds of children of all ages, ranging from babies to 14 years old. Additionally, I am a trained Maternity Nurse Practitioner, equipped to provide specialised care and support during the crucial early stages of a child's life.
As a mature lady with two grown children of my own, aged 35 and 29, I understand firsthand the challenges of parenting. My children attended Ysgol Pen Y Garth and Ysgol Gyfun Bro Morgannwg, and I take great pride in their achievements, both obtaining Master of Science degrees despite growing up in a single-parented and non-Welsh-speaking home environment.

I have a First Aid Certificate, CRB and Public Liability Insurance. I am a member of PACEY and registered with CIW.
My Availability
From September 2023 I have one vacancy available for an under 5 year old Monday to Thursday.
Ad-hoc childminding hours also considered when spaces are available.

My Fees
- Childminding from £6.00 per hour
£6.00 per hour during the hours 8.00 am - 5.30 am and negotiable outside of these hours.
My fees include lunch, snacks and drinks and transport to and from nursery or school.

I was new in Cardiff and completely lost about where to start with a 2 years old on my own. It's difficult to trust someone with our most especial treasure.
I can't put in words what a especial person Sandy is. My little one have been with her over two years now and we both love her very much. Clean place, always ready to help, loving and caring she is more than a childminder, she's a wonderful human being.

Sandy has looked after my eldest daughter from 3 til 11. She’s also looked after my second daughter from 9 months old. Sandy is my girls second mum and they both absolutely adore her. We have now moved away but we still keep in contact regularly as my girls love to visit still. Couldn’t recommend Sandy enough. She’s a super star

Sandy looked after my little boy when he started mornings in nursery school, doing the drop off and pick up. She has been really flexible to our needs. Sandy takes the children out to the park or the beach whenever the weather permits so they always have their fill of fresh air and exercise. Joseph has loved his time with her.

Sandy is a lovely lady who looked after my son Harrison well i studied my son loved her and didnt want to leave somedays lol and still talks about her to this day over 5yrs later she never forgot us ethier we still see her around and talk to her she alway makes time to speak she is so friendly and loving. Ill be looking to get in to work in Sept and i will be coming straight here to contact sandy as i will have no worries or concerns to leave my children with her as i know they will have a fun time and be professional well looked after x
