About Us

Sunbeams was previously a residential property, this ensures a very friendly home from home feel.

Babies

The baby unit consists of the three rooms; we have a soft sofa room where the babies can feel relaxed and explore textures and their senses through treasure baskets and heuristic play. For the older end of this age range there is also role play area, books, puzzles and construction toys.

Their hard floor room on this floor acts as their kitchen and messy room, this allows the babies to explore painting on a larger scale using their whole bodies to discover mark making, get messy with sand wand water and discover new textures through jelly, sawdust, soil and many more.

Toddlers

The toddler room is a large spacious area for children to begin exploring activities allowing concentration levels to increase, the room is vibrant and supports visual learning.

Numbers colours and letters are introduced and a very low level of learning through books, display, name tags, juice cups and planned activities.

During their time in the Toddler room children will learn to play alongside others and begin to form friendships, the staff will embrace this, supporting and developing social skills.

The toddler room has its own toilet and sink area allowing potty training to be a smooth and stress free experience for the children, the toilets are child size also allowing them access the toilet much easier.

The children have access to the garden during both morning and afternoon sessions, staff plan according the children’s interests and milestones

Sunbeams Pre School.

When your child turns 3 they will move, downstairs into our Pre School room, this is where they will start their journey to “bigâ€? school, the room is planned to provide table based activities, building concentration time spans, the children will take part in group time with their Key worker, supporting children to ensure that they are emotionally ready for school and have the independance skills they will need.

We use a routine to ensure that the children have a start middle and end to their Pre School day, during their day the children enjoy a well planned variety of adult led activities then spontaneous play and child led play is embraced and explored.

Outdoor areas

We are very lucky to have a reasonable sized outdoor play area, the Pre School children have free flow access to the garden throughout the day, the other age groups visit the garden during both AM and PM session.

We have an award winning allotment and the child take part in the up keep of the vegetables and flowers, the allotment is situated opposite the nursery so we has easy access.

Weather permitting we explore the garden everyday, we have rain suits and brollies for the rain and hats and sun cream for the sun shine.

Each age group plan their outdoor activities therefore it is relevant to their interests and milestones.
