My Summary
About Me
I am a very active and sociable person enjoying swimming, the cinema and have done Pilates for over 16 years. I grew up being the second of four siblings in the Herefordshire countryside. My childhood memories are of building dens in the fields with whatever we could find lying around; holidays around Wales and Weymouth where we spent every day come rain or shine on the beach. I knew at the age of seven I wanted to work with children. These experiences I believe have really cemented my approach to my own practice. If it’s raining put on waterproofs and wellies, if it’s sunny grab a picnic and let the day take its course.
My job is so rewarding and I am really motivated by teaching children something new and seeing a child’s progress no matter what the size of the achievement. Following a childs interests and thoughts as they explore the world around them; stopping to mark make in the frost left by ‘Jack’ on the fence or discovering the smells and colours in the flower shop. I encourage independence as much as possible and to always have a go, whilst reassuring the child I am there if they need me.
My aim in any new role is to develop a strong integrated bond with the children and parents I work with and in my experience, I believe working as a unit with communication and flexibility helps to create that strong positive environment. I like to develop a strong flexible routine especially with younger ones as I have found children thrive on routine. Keeping important factors a constant in a routine e.g food, milk and sleep allows the space for spontaneity and flexibility elsewhere in the day.
Day to day and job to job my days are similar -attending groups, playdates, going on adventures, swimming lessons etc I also carry out hairdresser appointments, dentists, doctors, food shops etc.
