My Work
I have been Ofsted registered for (23 yrs) and have a full DBS check updated Feb 2018 on the (online) yearly update service. Family members also have full DBS checks and on the yearly update service.
I like to work in close partnership with parents/carers & have an open door policy. I do not just simply comply with the statutory framework requirements. I thrive to provide an excellent service that meets parents' needs. I aim to provide a stimulating challenging environment which is warm, safe, clean, caring, loving and enjoyable for the children where they feel safe & secure to develop confidence, explore, have fun, play, talk & learn together whilst in my care
A place where parents can safely leave their children with the knowledge that their child's well-being is paramount
I do baby signing with the children to assist their communication and development & child led weaning.
I let children explore their surroundings and lead their own play through activities, and build on their learning for the next steps.
I promote healthy eating and oral health, which is statutory in the Early Years (birth-5). I share all this information with parents.
I teach the children Spanish as little ones learn a 2nd language very quickly & enjoy it, which can benefit them later on in life
The children have their own enclosed garden when playing outdoors that is safe & secure with CCTV's. A padlock is placed on the gate while working, and CCTV video intercom for parents up on arrival.
My Experience
I have been a Ofsted registered childminder for the past 22 years & a Ofsted registered Home Childcarer (Nanny) for 14 years now. I have also worked for Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire Childrens Safeguarding Services alongside social workers and social service.
I currently work nights in a Children’s/Young Peoples Residential Home with complex needs around my childcare business. This means I'm unavailable for providing overnight childcare/Nannying when on shift with my other work.
I have looked after a lot of children of all ages within this time, i have 36 years experience from having my own :) and i have worked in 2 day nurseries, i was a Special Needs co-ordinator in one of them aswel as working in schools with Reading, maths and English and a midday supervisor.
I have 4 children of my own & 2 Step children that are now grown up and independent ages and have now left home & have their own places :(
I have a clear focus on equal opportunities (Equality & Diversity) & Inclusion for all children and try always to promote a respectful understanding of all levels of disability. Over the years in childcare i have cared for a number of children with varying degrees of disabilities & also with mild developmental challenges and behavioural problems etc, i am a qualified experienced carer of children with special needs (ADHD, Autism and conditions such as Asthma). I have experience with children with restricted dietary/intolerance needs (Lactose, Diary & Gluten) & premature baby experience. I have confidently supported these children and their parents/carers during their time with me :)
I have experience in providing support for bilingual children and their parents. I provide a range of resources to help support children where English is their second language. I understand that bilingualism is an asset and the first language has a continuing and significant role of identity, learning and the acquisition of additional languages :)
I have experience in cultural differences by enjoying sharing and learning about different cultures with the children and families, through cultural differences, language, food and experiences. We have tasted and cooked some exciting foods from different continents, i also celebrate different religious festivals with the children (St George, St Patrick, St Andrews, St David, Easter, Mothers Day, Fathers Day, Valentines Day, Diwali, Chinese New Year, Christmas Day etc) and share them in a fun way making cards etc with the children :)
My experience which i am probably best known for is my Halloween decorations where the house turns into a decorated den of skeletons and spiders which all children get enthusiastically involved (making cakes, cards & dress up in costumes sharing a party 'scary' tea) with emphasis being on fun and creativity :)
I have lots of references of satisfied parents upon request whose children i have cared for + over 35 excellent parent reviews on my profile :)
please read all my reviews of satisfied parents :)
My Qualifications
I am proud to be awarded the highest 'FOOD RATING' a perfect '5 Very Good' for my food hygiene standards by Broxtowe Borough's Environmental Health before my house move which now i am living under the Amber Valley Borough of Derbyshire and the rating has now ceased for childminders.

My Fees
- Babysitting from £10.00 per hour
- Childminding from £10.00 per hour
Weekday fees are as follows per child which are very reasonable (to nurseries) due to the hrs worked :)
I do not work Bank Holiday Mondays if on annual leave.
*FEES TO BE PAID IN ADVANCE AT THE START OF EACH WEEK/DAILY/MONTHLY
*Full fees are payable for childcare when parents take their holidays, off sick or not in on an arranged day to keep their childs place, but no charge for any of my time off. No fees payable for school holidays if only Term-time childcare is required as this is when I take my annual leave.
*A one month notice period is also required to terminate childcare when no further childcare is required. Fees are payable upon this notice period of days per week taken. Weather the child/children are in attendance or not.
*Settling in sessions. If a baby or toddler has not settled after the arranged two week period. I would not be able to continue childcare as I feel it is unfair to the child, other children present or myself. No further fees would be charged or any notice period served. But any fees paid for the settling in period is non-refundable if the child does not settle and leaves before the settling in sessions finish.
Reserving a childcare place:
A fee is payable in advance for an arranged month/day to commence childcare as a settling in session. If this place is not taken up the fee is non refundable.

Parents must carry out their own checks and references on childcare providers to ensure that they are completely happy before enaging in the use of their services.
Harleigh settled well in the setting harleigh like to play with the equipment and toys provided I am unable to rate food when we provide for our children other than that's everything was as seems lovely home not had a problem with drop off and pick up.
Dawn is a very experienced childcare provider and it's been great having my son being able to go to Riggles and Giggles.
Dawn provides a unique service as she's helped me with overnight and wraparound care which is very unusual in my area and has been so helpful.
Dawn also has a really lovely setting with loads of toys, games and facilities for young children.
I messaged Dawn regarding availability due to issues with my current provider.
Although I didn't need her services in the end, I can't thank Dawn enough for her help and professionalism throughout and would have no hesitation in using her should my needs change.
Thanks again.
Dawn is the first childminder that looked after my 10mo son. I had been stressed for no reason. They took of like a house on fire. Dawn is very experinced with children and helped me through the bits I wasn't sure of (nutrition, teething ect.) I can't praise her enough. Very flexible with time. Higly recommend to enyone who is considering a childminder.
My 5 years old has been going for nearly a year now and she loves it and always looks forward to going. We get plenty of updates and photos each time my child attends.
Dawn has been accomodating with our requirements as they have changed a bit over the year and she also gives plenty of notice with any changes.
