About Me
Hello my name is Nikki Dorkins, Im a Ofsted registered childminder . I believe children should have a natural safe learning environment and I like to add the Danish Hygge in the children’s learning. I have been graded by OFSTED as OUTSTANDING. I deliver the early years funding for 2,3 and 4 year olds at my setting. I look after children from the ages of 0-12 years. I am a member of PACEY and provide support for other childminders . Member and mentor for Quality childminding in Cornwall. I provide an excellent natural learning environment for the children, I fully cover the EYFS, have a lovely calm Hygge play room, a large decked outside area and a large grass area where the children learn to build dens and investigate wildlife. The children have an area where they have planted fruits, vegetables and wildflowers. I own 6 acres of pasture and 2 acres of woodland, this provides a safe outdoor place where children can learn and play. I live with my partner and my two sons 24 years ( DBS CHECKED) and 14 years. We live in a detached spacious house with plenty of parking. I have ducks, chickens, pigs, pet sheep, horses and dogs. The children adore our well behaved dogs. Parents are updated daily.
My Experience
I have been childminding since 2002. I have experience with children of all ages and with those who have additional needs. I attend regular training and constantly review my practice. I hold a Hygge in the Early years accreditation and EYPDP.

Nikki is like no other childminder or setting I have ever used, I have three sons, my youngest of which is the child that went to Nikki’s, I only wish I found her sooner for my other two!
Nikki provides a real natural & stimulating environment. I absolutely LOVE all of the activities and souvenirs my son would bring home with him, she really goes above and beyond to encourage learning through play. My son is now in school and I’m regularly told how amazed people are with his level of intelligence, something I truly believe is down to Nikki.
My son has a dairy allergy, something that was taken very seriously and dealt with complete compassion.
I also received so much support from Nikki, for various things whilst my son was with her. We all love her! Can’t wait to see her again during the holidays. (& the beautiful animals) .

A real home away from home! My son has been with Nikki only a few months but in such a short time he has grown leaps and bounds in confidence and communication skills. He has enjoyed various activities from baking, painting, story reading, gardening and dancing, to name but a few. He has been around looking at horses and playing football in the garden and has enjoyed many parties with younger and older children. He is now leaving just because we are moving home, otherwise I would have not wanted him anywhere else. He will miss you, Cody, the other children and most of all, Spook the doggy. Thank you, Nikki!

I have used mistymoo childminding services since my second child was born 6 years ago and we now use her for our third child. The services she provides are amazing, which include lots of different activities, painting, baking, writing skills, reading, outdoor activities and days trips out and about too. You are regularly updated and always responded to quickly and efficiently. I also use mistymoo for summer holidays for my older children, and their always happy to go back each year! Fantastic childminder!

My son has been with Nikki for two years now, as a teacher I was fussy about who
I would leave my child with. Nikki ticked all of my boxes and more. Since starting he has grown into a confident, happy toddler who mixes well with other children. Nikki provides the children with a wide range of activities, ranging from cooking and painting at her home to visiting local places and spending time with other childminders and their children. Tapestry allows me to see what he has beennup to and how he is progressing against the early learning goals. I would highly recommend Nikki to anyone looking for a friendly, professional and reliable childminder - I wouldn't want my son with anyone else!!

My eldest son and my middle daughter have both gone to nikki and my youngest will be starting in December I wouldn't want my kids to go with anybody else!! she is awesome with them the kids love going with her she always keeps me updated throughout the day with msgs and facebook can't recommend enough!!

I have used Nikki since my daughter was 16 months old right up until she's now going to school. Will also continue during holidays etc. I would recommend Nikki to anyone, my daughter has such a great time whilst she is with her and always has lots of things to tell me about her fun days. My daughter gained so much confidence and has learnt a lot since being with Nikki. Nikki is a lovely friendly person that makes you feel confident when dropping the children off and I enjoy seeing all the updates about what the children are getting up to during the day!
Amazing childminder, wouldn't send my daughter with anyone else.

I have been using Nikki for nearly 7 years and I would recommend her to anyone asked. My children have come on in leaps and bounds and continue to learn in a fun environment all the time. My girls enjoy nikki setting as they do something different everyday get to go on plenty of trips out and about. Nikki also keeps you informed about what the children do on a regular basis by either text or the Internet which is brilliant as you can see what the children get upto within her care.

I am very happy to leave my 2 year old son with such a competent and friendly childminder. Nikki has been so accommodating and has really helped my little boy to settle in. She gives me regular updates by text and via facebook - letting me know how he is getting on and which activities he has been doing that morning. I would thoroughly recommend Nikki to anyone considering using a childminder in her area.
