My Summary
About Me
Hi, my name is Rachel and I have 10 years experience in childcare. This consists of different roles in multiple childcare settings and environments. My career interest has always been focused in childcare. I started off babysitting for local neighbours and family friends weekly at the age of 15 and the interest continued with volunteering roles at camps, as a brownie leader and filling my school holidays volunteering in nursery settings. I followed this up by studying a Health and Social care qualification, with a focus on childcare within.
I am a very reliable, trustworthy, hardworking and a dedicated individual with a passion for the development and well-being of any child in my care. I use my own initiative in any given situation and believe that time keeping is essential. I am fun, bubbly, happy and energetic and will always remain professional within my role.
I finished my qualification in 2014 and started working in a nursery setting full time where I gained an understanding of children from multiple backgrounds, how to guide SEN children to reach their full potential, gained confidence skills, and had experience working with different aged children ranging from 8 months - 5 year olds. I also obtained a childcare qualification and gained an excellent knowledge of the EYFS whilst working.
I decided at the age of 20 that, as much as I had a passion for what what I was doing, I wanted to branch my carer out further and decided to take on a sole charge nanny role. I was with the same family for 5 years and developed my skills and expanded my knowledge by looking after four children as a sole care role, including a set of TWINS from 9 months (giving mothers help from birth.) The twins did not attend a childcare setting and instead I used my knowledge of children’s development and my childcare experience to create educational and exciting activities and room set ups each day to help prepare them for primary school. This included giving them independence and basic life skills, number recognition, counting, phonics and an introduction to early writing. As well as guiding them with their gross motor and fine motor skills. I create and set out regular 12 week learning plans for them which cover the EYFS and include fun, engaging, creative and stimulating activities to guide their learning. These can be adapted to meet the needs of children of different ages. I enjoy a range of indoor and outdoor activities and use the EYFS as a base for all learning and development, guiding each child along at their own individual pace.
I have gained knowledge and understanding of the assessment process for private school admission and have success with children being accepted as well as experience with home-schooling reception and year one ages. (Due to the Covid situation.)
I value the importance of healthy eating and a balanced diet and have used this to help prepare nutritious and balanced meals for the children, using a weekly menu plan. I also have experience with weaning and bottle feeding.
I believe communication with parents is essential and as your nanny you can expect daily updates (via an app) and monthly photo scrapbooks to monitor development.
I am currently in full time employment.
