About Me
Hi, my name is Laura & I'm an Ofsted registered childminder. I'm 43 & I live with my husband Simon & I’m a mum of 2 - Chloe is 23 & Jason is 20.
We have just relocated to Hullbridge, Hockley from Grays, Essex & am looking to continue my career in childcare here.
I have a BSL level 1 certificate & have studied for my level 2, although I failed 2 of the exams, which I intend to resit in due course.
I was graded as Outstanding, when I had my latest Ofsted inspection which was carried out in December 2017.
My partner Simon, my daughter Chloe & my son Jason are all registered as my assistants & are all paediatric first aid trained, Simon & Chloe both hold safeguarding qualifications.
I have relished & enjoyed having my own children & am very proud of them both. I now feel that I can offer a fun, happy, enjoyable & safe enviroment whilst helping other children nurture, learn & grow.
I am currently looking for groups & play centres in which myself & other childminders can attend. This allows the children to play with toys I dont have & to mix socially with other children. We live close to the river, which we will take regular walks to & there are lots of local outdoor places we can go to visit & explore.
We have 1 dog Duke who is a 9 year old Cocker Spaniel. We also have a cat Rusty.
Although, I work 0730-1800 with younger children, I am also available to do preschool/school drop-off's & pick-up's. I collect from Riverside primary in Hullbridge.
My Experience
I currently have almost 10 years experience within childcare, but obviously I have my own 23 & 20 year olds. I have an enhanced CRB/DBS, as does my partner Simon, our daughter Chloe & our son Jason.
We all hold a current Paediatric first aid certificate & I worked as a childminders assistant for 2 years before starting out in my own setting as a childminder.
My Qualifications
I am an Ofsted registered Childminder, have completed the CYPOP5 course & my level 3 diploma in childcare.
I have completed various local council run childcare courses including: English as additional language, child protection, child progress & observation.
I also complete a range of courses that are available online, to keep up my knowledge.
I book onto more courses to widen my knowledge & ability.
I have a vaild Paediatric first aid certificate & my food hygiene certificate.
I also have level 1, 2 & 3 NVQ's in Catering & hospitality & qualifying with a Diploma in Patisserie.
I have my level 3 diploma for the children & young peoples workforce & have my level 1 in British Sign Language & intend to resit my level 2 exams in due course.
I belonged to St John's Ambulance for 9 years but have lapsed since having my own children.

Laura has provided great childcare for my 1 and 4 year for the last 4 months. I had to switch to a childminding since my nursery closed due to covid lockdown. Laura was able to step in and offer her services at relatively short notice for full-time childcare for both children.
Both my children have developed very well whilst in her care. She is very reassuring and has a good setting for the children to do outdoor play and do other activities.
Laura gives good feedback to which is reassuring and good to here aymt the end of each day.
She and her family members who are also registered to help with the childcare have been greatly accommodating which has been reassuring to know that the children are always in good hands.

My son was with Laura initially from the age of 2 for long days as I worked hospital shifts but as he started school I found a 9-5 and Laura did before and after school care. Last year we moved area so my son started a new school and sadly we said goodbye to Laura and her family 😢
Laura is very friendly and kind woman who is great with the kids. She has sooooo many toys and activities for all ages and really works hard at making sure the children are happy.
It’s a big decision to leave your child with a stranger but I can honestly say I always knew my son was safe and happy at Laura’s.
My son (now 9) says ‘Laura was very helpful and feels like part of the family and I felt safe there’

Laura looked after my daughter from when she was 7 months old and I had to return to work. I was so nervous about leaving her but Laura put me at ease and my girl loved it in her setting, especially with all the attention she was getting!
My daughter was in Laura’s setting until she started school and now attends on an ad-hoc basis throughout the school holidays. She’s learnt a lot with Laura, she had great preparation for starting school due to regular progress reviews Laura performed. She had access to all the different activities on offer including access to a garden with a selection of apparatus, which she loved as she grew! My daughter has made many friends along the way too!
Thanks to Laura for helping me out when I’ve become stuck without childcare, always on standby to help when she can, much appreciated!
My daughter has had the best start in life, she misses you all lots when she’s not with you 😊 xx

For the last 5 years Laura has looked after my daughter , I have not had to worry at all. My daughter started attending when she was only 8.5 months and I was going back to work full time. I wanted someone reliable whom my daughter could trust and warm to in a homely setting. From the word go my daughter adapted well and she has continued to enjoy the setting. My daughter has learnt a lot, made some lovely friends and developed into an independent clever girl! Having an offsted registered childminder ensures that your child develops through a guided curriculum ready for school and beyond!
I particularly like the fact hhat Laura takes the kids out to different activities. This helps them develop in different areas and stimulate their little brains.
Laura also offers various dinners allowing the kids to try different foods. My daughter is fussy with food but she has managed to try and like different foods.
