About Me
**Ofsted Graded Outstanding** My name is Jan and my husband is David - together we are Kiddicare Childcare. We have two lovely daughters, Emma and Chloe, two cats and a small dog. We moved here from Kent in 1997 and wouldn't want to move away!
I looked into becoming a Registered Childminder because I really enjoy nurturing and caring for children, and it has been my career since 2005. David joined me Childminding in 2010 as my assistant and enjoyed it so much, he became registered and qualified in his own right. All our families tell us he has been a brilliant addition as having a male, as well as the more traditional female carer, allows us to provide 'balanced care' which is really beneficial.
My Experience
We are both extremely proud to have been awarded 'Outstanding' grades by Ofsted for the second time in our last inspection, in recognition of the hard work we put into our profession. I have uploaded a copy of my report into the 'Documents' section for information.
Over the last few years there have been some great opportunities for us to take part in various schemes and courses organised by the Borough, which although have all been optional and ran in the evenings and weekends, we have been happy to take part in. We feel keeping ourselves up to date, means the service we provide to parents and the children we care for will constantly improve.
Amongst the schemes we have taken part and achieved awards in are: Advanced Accreditation status, Advanced Level DQIS (Dorset Improvement Scheme – this award is given on demonstration of quality practice and commitment to continuous development), Quality Poole Pathway to Quality for Childminders and ECaT (Every Child a Talker).

We provide full time and part time care to all ages.

My Fees
- Childminding from £5.50 per hour
Our rate is £5.50 per hour, and we have a minimum daily rate of £40.
Vacancies for little ones from 1 year +.
Various Childcare vouchers accepted.
We offer Government funded places for 2, 3 & 4 year old children and are also able to offer EYPP (Early Years Pupil Premium) to those who are eligible.

My son has been with Jan and Dave for over two years and has thrived in their care. In that time, he has grown in confidence and become a really happy, settled little boy. His baby sister joined him when she was 8 months old and absolutely loves her Jan and Dave days. Where Alex had a significant speech delay, they were understanding and supportive of the techniques and games given to us by the speech and language therapists. They are now supporting Emmie with her speech development and have completed referrals to outside agencies on our behalf. I have been blown away by their understated professionalism and their willingness to learn and improve their knowledge. They have an incredible reputation and are an amazing support to other childminders in the area. As an Early Years teacher, I am very familiar with the EYFS and Development Matters frameworks. Jan and Dave provide appropriate activities and resources for my children to access all areas of learning and stages of development and make accurate and regular observations and set relevant and achievable next steps. Their knowledge of the EYFS is second to none and I have ‘borrowed’ many of their ideas to use in school myself!
Alex and Emmie both run in happily in the mornings and are reluctant to leave, showing me they have amazing days in a fun, safe, well-resourced setting with their friends. Thank you for everything you have done, we appreciate it more than you could ever know.

Thank you so much 😊. Your interaction with us - uploading photos and observations to our online system - has been brilliant. It is a pleasure witnessing your children thrive and grow and we love having your family as part of our setting. 😀
My daughter has been going to Jan and Dave’s since February 2014 and she absolutely loves it. Both are very warm and welcoming to children & parents alike. I don’t need to worry in the slightest about my daughter whilst I am at work as I know she is being well looked after. I am very impressed with the amount of things they do with the children. You can see from all the smiling faces that greet you every time, that all the children are happy and well cared for whilst with Jan & Dave. My daughter loves them and we are so glad we choose Jan & Dave x

I found Jan and her husband very welcoming on a visit to choose a childminder. They were both very attentive to my daughter and the other child there. The only reason I didn't choose Jan was the distance from ky house on wet days. It was really hard to say no as me and my eaughter felt welcome and safe. Jan will always remain as a reserve childminder if my choice works out wrong. Many thanks.
