My Summary
About Me
I am married and have been with my husband for 35 years, and we have 2 boys together aged 21 and 18.
Both myself and my husband and our sons have full enhanced CRB clearance.
I have been working as a childminder since September 2012 ,and feel that I have a friendly home from home environment where children can develop and learn effectively in a fun family orientated surroundings, which children and parents love coming too.
I have a great working relationship with the parents of the children I care for and we work together on developing their skills in self confidence , speech and language, social interaction , play, toilet training, appropriate behaviour and getting them ready for school and pre-school.
Since February 2014 I have been working with my husband as my assistant, and he has done his safeguarding and has his paediatric first aid as well as many more courses. This is working really well as OFSTED and all my parents say that it is a real benefit having a male role model to the kids, as OFSTED are encouraging more men to work with children in the early years.
I have had 3 OFSTED inspections, my first in February 2013 , my second in January 2018 and my third was August 2023 and I was graded GOOD every time. In my first OFSTED inspection the inspector said that I offered lots of good quality resources for all age groups , and I have a warm and friendly home which children love coming to and in my second inspection the inspector said that the Children are at the heart of everything the childminder and her assistant do. The home is warm and welcoming. Resources are well presented to enable children to choose for themselves. Children are very happy, settled and show high levels of emotional wellbeing and in my last inspection they said Children are confident to make choices about their play and have free access to the dedicated playroom and garden. The childminder and assistant demonstrate kindness and compassion to the children and each other. They promote the use of good manners and praise children for their positive behaviour. As a result of this, children behave very well. They listen and follow instructions.
I follow the guidance of the EYFS and track them on their progress and then plan activities to support their development and needs.
I live in Oldbury, on the Halesowen and Quinton border, just off the main Hagley road into Birmingham , and also close to the M5 junction 3.
My home is situated on a quiet road, away from main roads so that children can be placed safely into cars.
My house has a safe, well equipped fun back garden with many outdoor toys and my home is safe and fully childproof with stair gates fitted and I have a downstairs toilet and washing area, and a play room completely for their needs, full of toys and games for all ages and we also use my living/dinning room for playing, quiet time and meal times.
I also offer a wide range of activities to include arts and crafts, visiting local places, parks and the library.
I follow the EYFS and I regularly observe the children to support their individual development needs.
At the moment I only offer before and after school for Perryfields primary and Pre-school.

My daughter has been going to Clarebears since she was ten months. I felt at ease the minute I dropped her off and that has continued through her journey. My daughter is now three and thriving. Thanks to Clare and Wayne’s nurturing approach she is more than ready for pre-school. She loves going in everyday and constantly talks about her friends and all the great things she does there. She has build a lovely bond with all the children of all ages and they all look out for each other.
We have had a few bad childcare experiences and choosing this provider is not one of those.I can happily go to work knowing my child is safe, secure and happy my only regret is we didn’t find her sooner and our 6 year old didn’t get the same experience.

Clare and Wayne are just brilliant! My little boy has been with them for just under a year so far and just loves going to theirs, he asks for Wayne every morning! Their home is a fantastic environment with so much for the children to do! My little boy has come on so much in the time he’s been with them. They have been brilliant with any changes in hours we have needed whilst adapting to the changes in working over the pandemic. We were worried about how we would manage our reusable nappies but they have been amazing with this too! We couldn’t ask for better childminders and would highly recommend them!

Clare and Wayne are absolutely dedicated to their job and I am so happy we found them. Their house is full of things for the children to do and everything is there to accommodate all their needs! My daughter developed so much attending Clare bears and she enjoys it so much, she always tells family and friends about her ‘teachers’ and what fun activities they have been doing. They both put so much effort into the children and different learning activities for them. Thank you Clare and Wayne for making us feel safe and happy when we leave our daughter with you knowing we’ll come and pick up a happy girl every day :) we are so happy we found you and she’s part of the Clare bears family!

Our daughter has been going to Clare Bears since she was 9 months old. After intially meeting with Clare and her husband I had zero reservations about leaving our daughter in their care. Clare Bears has become a home from home for her and I feel that the activities that have been done throughout the early years have massively helped in her development. I would recommend Clare Bears to anyone. They have given our daughter the best start and there are never any tears when I drop her off in the morning!
Thank you Clare and Wayne.

My little boy has been with Clare and Wayne for 3 years and he has loved every minute there. I heard about Clare Bears by recommendation from another parent and since then have recommended them myself numerous times. Clare and Wayne have an amazing way with the children; they make them so welcome and interact beautifully with them. They know each child needs and personalities and tailor each child’s care and development accordingly. The children have a fabulous setting to play and learn in and Clare and Wayne provide a fantastic array of activities. Having such amazing, supportive child minders where my little one is relaxed and happy has made life so much easier. My little boy adores Clare and Wayne and see’s them as an extended family. I feel incredibly lucky to have found them.
