About Me
Hi, my name is Geraldine Stewart, I work with two assistants to provide a very experienced, high standard of care for children 0-16 years. i stay with my husband and have 2 grown up children and a 21 year old, and an 10 year old.
My assistants and I love working with children and seeing them happy. Both myself and 1 of my assistants have many years nursery experience prior to childminding and decided that we wanted to provide a more homely care for children. My other assistant has experience with working with children in after school care. We have all got childcare qualifications. We are registered with the SCSWIS and are members of the scottish childminding association (SCMA), further details of our service are on their site.
we follow the curriculum for excellence and SHANNARI indicators within my establishment. we provide a home from home loving environment and believe that the children who attend our service receive the best of both worlds from nursery and childminding. we follow the curriculum which provides the children with stimulating activities but do this on a smaller more personal scale than nursery. because there are three of us working together we can provide the children with a more varied day to suit their individual needs.
We also follow the pre birth to three plan. We use the tapestry online learning journal system. This enables us to ensure that each child is reaching their milestones, and if not we can give the child and their family extra support where it's needed.
We have recently built and extension onto our property which has given us the opportunity to have a purpose built playroom for the children. This means the children have more space to play and enables us to have a variety of toys and media out for them.
We are based in Burnside View in Rutherglen and are central for various buses locally and also to East Kilbride and Glasgow. We are around a 10 minute walk to Burnside train station.
My Experience
i worked in nurseries for around 5 years then i started childminding about 20 years ago now. before this i helped run holiday play-schemes for children. my assistant also worked in nurseries for around 4 years before she came to work with me, 18 years ago. we plan activities each day for the children and get out at least twice a day no matter what the weather is. we have a fully enclosed back garden which the children have opportunity to play in, there are lots of variety of toys for the children to play with. we are continually developing the service for the children's needs and requirements.
our activities and planning are run on a very invitation to play and child centred, curiosity approach.
My Qualifications
i have a hnc in early education and childcare
i have a PDA in early childhood
i have completed applied psychology and sociology for childhood.
i also have a BA in Childhood practice,
both my assistant and i hold a current first aid certificate
i have also attended various courses in relation to childcare some are as follow; child protection, basic sign language, promoting positive behaviour, both my assistant and i are members of the new PVG scheme.
we are members of Scottish Childminding Association and registered with SCSWIS.
My Availability
We offer local authority funded spaces for 3 year olds. I will have a Monday space becoming available from July 2024

i can't believe how much my child has come on since starting here. the girls are extremely nurturing and lots of fun. my daughter looks forward to the days she comes here and is always very tired when she comes home. she is well fed and well looked after. love her stories of what she has got up to during the day with the girls.

my little boy has been with these girls since he was 5 months old, we are now sadly leaving as he is starting school. They have shown him so much love and we are so sad to be leaving. if you are looking for somewhere safe, secure and loving these are the girls. the only trouble i had was getting him home at night.
