About Me
My name is Maria and I run Pixies with my team. I have poured 20+ years of experience in establishing a child centred, home from home setting, where children thrive and enjoy being at Pixies, and subsequently do not want to leave at the end of the day.
At Pixies, I ensure there is a day-to-day routine, whilst learning through play, exploring and giving the chldren freedom to flourish. We have an on-site soft play cabin which allows the children to channel their energies via free play, and weather permitting, a lovely outdoor space to explore. Our outdoor space has a pleathora of learning activities; from growing and picking vegetables, insect houses, mud kitchen, sand pit, chalk board, abacus, a library hut along with garden slides and toys.
Parents are fully informed throughout the day of what their little ones get up to via photographs, and at the end of the day a summary is sent directly to the parent via an app called Kinderly.
We also offer school pick up for siblings from Firs Farm Primary school.
My Experience
I have 20+ years of early years experience and the skills to highlight are as follows:
• Compose written observation – child development report
• Preparing and setting out activities for child development
• Cover all areas of Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)
• Organising daily activities, reading stories, taking the children to the park
• Ensure children’s safety and well being during physical activities at all times during the day
• Creative communication skills to enable easy understanding for children
• Identifying skills children need more work on and incorporating that in their daily learning
Other highlights are:
• Staff are fluent in English, French, Greek, Turkish and Albanian
• Staff are fully First Aid peadiatric trained
• Ofsted Good rating
• Ofsted registered
• Ensuring children are sent home in dry nappies
• Preparing their daily meals
• Liaising on a daily basis with parents on the development of their child
• Assisting at meal times, sleeping times and nappy changing
My Qualifications
I took a course in Children with Special Educational Needs – 18 week Government led course (Borough of Harringay).
Courses in Safeguarding for early years
Food safety and Hygiene.

Our son Reuben (23 months) has been with Maria at Ang at Pixies for over 4 weeks now, and we couldn't be happier with how it is going. The set up is fantastic with their newly built cabin - with story area, play area, sleeping area and changing/toilet area situated in the back garden. There are plenty of toys and games and books, and I have to drag him out at the end of the day!! There is also a lovely garden to play and learn in, as well as a clean kitchen where Reuben has his tasty looking meals. Maria is doing lots of fun activities with him, as well as taking him out and about - to the park/soft play/music classes. She's also listened to us when we've asked for small details to be changed, and keeps in regular contact throughout the day on whatsapp with pictures and messages, and keeps a daily diary to show his activities and progress. The whole thing has been set up with real care and attention to detail, and Maria creates a warm and friendly environment which Reuben is thriving in. The only thing extra we could ask for is a friend for Reuben to play with!
