I have been an Ofsted registered childminder since February 2002 with previous experience of working in creches and as a teaching assistant in a primary school. My qualifications include the level 4 certificate in early years practice along with a large portfolio of other qualifications and training relating to my work including current first aid certificate and safeguarding. I am married to Dave and we have 3 children, my youngest is 21 years and 5 Grandchildren.
My Experience
I became interested in registering with Ofsted after having Roan, my youngest child. Previous to this when the girls were younger I had childminded but we were then registered with social services under the care umbrella but I wanted to expand my knowledge and learn more about childrens development and helping them learn. Whilst on maternity leave I completed some basic courses and volunteered at our local primary school. This became a paid role and I expanded my experience to the early years by working for Surestart during the school holidays and evenings. I enjoyed this so much that I became full time here until being approached by a parent to care for her children full time in my home. It was ideal, I could carry on with a job I love and be at home with Roan.
Here I began my business which is not a job it's part of our family life and has been so rewarding. We have cared for children between the ages of 3 weeks and sixteen years all with different personalities and interests. Some children have come that have had extra needs including ADHD, autism, dyslexia and I have learnt from their parents and other professionals how to support and embrace them within the setting.
I feel that young children feel secure and happy in our setting which has the advantage of a homely, caring environment with the addition of stimulating resources and activities to promote learning through play. Five years ago I become employed as deputy Manager in a local day nursery but although it was a great experience I returned to full time childminding soon after as it made me realise how valuable and satisfying my time as a childminder is.

My eldest has been with Vicki for almost a year now and he absolutely loves it! To the point where he runs to the door and shouts coat every morning when she calls.
My youngest has recently started settling in and has taken to it really well. I feel secure going back to work knowing they are safe and enjoying themselves. Vicki is excellent at keeping us updated and we love to see the pictures of his day.
The boys regularly go out to playgroups, soft play centers ect as well as having tonnes of toys and resources to play with at Vicki's.
I couldn't have asked for a better childminder - both myself and the boys love her.

My 4 year old son has been with Vicki for 9 months now and she has been brilliant throughout, he loves going there and always has a big smile on his face when he gets home.
It makes leaving him so much easier knowing he is happy and well cared for.
I would very highly recommend Vicki she has exceeded my expectations. My son loves her and he is very happy there.
