About Me
Now registered to deliver the 30 hour FUNDED places for both 2 & 3 year olds, and the 15 hours for children from 9 months old, I am an OFSTED registered childminder and I live in the Linthorpe area of Middlesbrough with my husband Neil, and Charlie my cocker spaniel.
I am a member of PACEY - professional association for childcare and early years and I regularly attend their community events.
I am registered to care for children from birth - 16 and am a car driver with access to my own vehicle. I currently cover St Edwards and Linthorpe school.
I love art & craft, computers, reading and the great outdoors. The children have chance to visit all local amenities including soft play, Little Movers, Hartbeeps, Sing & Sign, Forest school, Coastal school, parks, museums ,beaches ,local playgroups, and a weekly visit to the library.
I
I have a stimulating and child friendly play room for the children filled with resources that cover every area of development. My playroom is a stimulating, colourful and warm environment for your child to play in. It is equipped with a play kitchen, workbench, Nintendo wi,,art &craft resources are plentiful, wide range of construction toys, jigsaws, books, fine motor resources, small world play and various sensory resources for all age ranges and covering all stages of development. Outside we have a home made play den, outdoor mud kitchen, weaving and sand and water play.
My Experience
I will have been a registered child minder for 33 year in july 2024 and have vast experience with children of all ages. I have worked along side social services to care for children whose parents have needed help or respite due to additional needs.
I thrive on new challenges and the children and I are currently enjoying baby signing classes at the moment.
I have a wide experience of working with babies and have cared for a child who has had Hip Dysplasia since birth.
I care for children for as long as care is needed with no age restriction, and offer holiday care if spaces are available.
I currently cover Linthorpe primary school and St Edwards primary, both based in my locality.
I aim to offer complete continuity of care to your child and pride myself on the relationships I share with children and parents.
I am now able to offer the free 15 hours funded nursery places as well as the 3/4 year old early education places, and from September 2017 will be offering the 30 hours FUNDED places too.
I currently have 2 children on roll who are totally 'dairy free' so feel very confident in meeting this aspect of any child's dietary needs.

My Availability
I work Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Fridays and start from 7 am - 5pm daily. Other days/ hours will be considered on an individual basis.
I currently take 2 weeks holiday per year, but do not work bank holidays.
My hours are flexible and varied hours can be accomodated for parents shift work.

My Fees
- Childminding from £4.50 per hour
My fees are £38 daily for up to 9 hours care, or £5.00 per hour for 5 hours or less.
No fees for my holidays but full fees apply for parents holidays as the space is still available and will be kept for your child's return.
I do offer term - time only contracts for teachers and currently do not charge for their holidays.
I also now offer the Achieving 2 year old and the 3/4 year old early education places provided by the government.

From the moment my 2yr old son joined Karen he has loved it. She engages them with fun activities at her home and adventures by taking them to parks, librarys, soft play & playgroups. Her home is also full of interesting and fun toys for them. She has been so great with Wilfred helping him hit milestones and giving me help with his potty training. Karen truly treats the children asif they were her own. She loves them all. She provides a book to log what your child has done that day and sends photo daily of the your childs to you. My son has come on so much with his speech, personality and learning since being with Karen and me and my husband would highly recommend. Nothing is a problem and she is always happy to help and give advice. Look no further if you require a trustworthy childminder to leave your children with. She's fab. Xxx

Karen has been caring for Harry (11 months) for the past 4 weeks. During this time we have seen a huge change in him. He has started to crawl, is more settled, is more independent in his play and interacts better with other people. We are in no doubt that this is down to Karen's input, care and hard work.
Her home is both welcoming and stimulating for children, with a huge variety of games, educational toys and activities.
We are kept updated daily with a communication diary, which includes details of food, activities, naps and photos.
Karen has made the challenge of returning to work and leaving our first child with somebody very easy, and has been very supportive and reassuring. She is extremely accommodating for Harry's allergy, and we trust her completely. It's clear to see that she cares deeply for the children she looks after, and we'd be lost without her.
After seeing the positive changes in Harry in just 4 weeks, we are excited to see how he will continue to develop and hope that he will remain with Karen as his childminder for many years.

Karen has been caring for our son Kasper since he was a year old. Her home is incredibly warm, friendly and welcoming and is truely a home from home for Kasper who is very happy and settled there. There are always fantastic projects and activities on the go along with days out and all sorts of adventures. It is very clear just how much Karen loves what she does and she goes above and beyond everyday. Kasper absolutely adores her and loves being in her care. Karen provides diaries of their activities and of Kaspers development along with photos everyday and it's wonderful to be able to see the joy and delight Kasper experiences when with her. Kasper has developed into a very happy, confident and sociable toddler and a lot of this is thanks to Karen. We honestly could not be without her. Kasper is such a lucky boy to benefit from her experience, enthusiasm and care (as will our little girl when I return to work) and we are very lucky parents to have found Karen and be so reassured and confident with their care. Thank you Karen xxx

Karen was strongly recommended to us by our son Oscar's godparents. Oscar was looked after by Karen from one year old until he was two and a half. The only reason Oscar left Krazy Kidz was because we have relocated.
Karen is highly regarded, well qualified, highly rated with many years experience and is rated by Ofsted as outstanding.
During his time with Karen Oscar has gone from being a shy, reserved baby to a bright, bold and confident toddler and Karen has played a huge part in that.
Karen made great progress in helping Oscar with eating solid foods - he had suffered with gagging since weaning.
We were very impressed by Karen's excellent record keeping, the personal development folders and daily diaries she completes.
We loved reading Oscar's diary to find out what he had been up to that day. The photos she takes daily and the constant communication of Oscar's activities and development is first class.
It is obvious how much Karen cares for all the children in her care and how much pleasure she also takes from being a part of their life. The list of activities and trips she organises is endless.
Oscar has enjoyed learning from so many projects and has enjoyed so many trips out (parks, museums, the seaside and further afield to Mini Moos, York Maze and Down at the Farm to name just a few).
Karen is a warm, friendly kind and extremely caring person who has looked after Oscar like one of her own. She goes way above and beyond the call of duty and does whatever she can to help make our lives a bit easier.
Our main sadness from leaving the area was the fact we had to take Oscar out of Krazy Kidz.
Karen is not just a childminder, she has become our friend and has been, and will still be, a special part of our lives, especially Oscar's. We are very lucky to have found a very good friend for life.
We have no hesitation in recommending Karen as a childminder, you won't find anyone better!

Thank you so much Emma, Oscar was a pleasure to care for, i am just sad to not get my hands on Louis. You and your family will always be special to us and we will remain very good friends.
Karen is a wonderful childminder and I would have no hesitation recommending her to anybody. Our children George (6 years old) Madeleine (aged 4) and Joseph ( aged 2) all love going to Karen's. They have been going since they were 1 year old and have thrived in Karen's care. Her house is filled with stimulating toys and activities for the children are planned on a daily basis. She always has a project on the go - at the minute it's hatching butterflies! Karen and her husband Neil provide a caring, fun filled family home where my children are safe and valued! We couldn't ask for more.
