Hello.My name is Helen and I have been married to Philip since 1992. We have 2 daughters - Emily born 1995 and Lauren born 1998. We have lived in the Highfield area of Hemel Hempstead since 1990.
My Experience
I have been an Ofsted registered childminder since June 2003. I work in a friendly, caring environment where the emphasis is put on learning through fun! I help all the children in my care to become self-confident, happy individuals within an environment of positive praise and encouragement. I now work with my daughter so it’s double the fun.
My Qualifications
My qualifications include NVQ3 Children's Care,Learning and Development, Paediatric First Aid, Safeguarding Children, Level 2 Award in Food Safety in Catering, Level 3 Certificate in Childminding Practice, Child Development, Road Safety Awareness, Healthy Eating, Involving Parents in Children's Learning, Choices for Children, EYFS Next Steps, Progress Matters, Ofsted SEF Writing, Risk Assessment, Aiming High for Disabled Children course Communicating Effectively with Children and Young People and more training in the pipeline!!
My Availability
My opening hours are from 07:30-18:00 Monday to Friday. I have full time contracts, part time contracts, and term time only contracts.

I can provide 15 or 30 hours funded childcare for qualifying 2,3 or 4 year olds. I will also be able to offer 9 month old funding from September 2024. Please contact me for further details.

My Fees
- Childminding from £6.00 per hour
I charge £6 per hour which includes 1 hot meal (if a child attends all day) plus all snacks and drinks. I take the children in my care to various groups and on trips in the school holidays (there is no extra charge for these activities as I believe they should be available to all of the children).

Our son has been with Helen & her daughter Emily since April 2024 when he was 17 months old. He has really grown in confidence. Helen & Emily take the children out everyday where they explore local parks, woodland, and the Zoo. Our son loves being outdoors and really enjoys the daily outings. The activities they do with the children are imaginative and creative supporting fine and gross motor skills whilst sparking a curiosity to learn through play. We are so blessed to have such a wonderful childminder and we would highly recommend Helen. She has a very caring nature and is naturally passionate about what she does a real gem.

My girls went to Helens from ages 9 months until school and then school holidays. They absolutely LOVED going and I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending Helen. She is a fantastic childminder, teacher and role model.
We wanted them to be in a safe, loving, educational setting where they grew as individuals, made friends, had lots of fun, but also had basic things like good manners instilled. Helen ticked all these boxes and helped us to bring up two gorgeous girls who we are proud of every day.
We also wanted a home from home setting where they would get a hot home cooked meal each day, would go to groups regularly to socialise, go on walks and feel happy and content. Helens setting provided all of this and more. Five stars for Helen!

My oldest son Heath was with Helen from one year old until he started school. I had no hesitation leaving him in her care as I knew he would be well looked after and safe. Helen was like a surrogate Mum and treated him like one of the family while still instilling discipline. He was so sad to leave her care but his time with Helen prepared him for school and made him into a polite, well behaved, caring child. She goes above and beyond for all the children in her care and treats them like she would her own kids. I cannot recommend Helen highly enough. Your kids will flourish in her care.
