Emma has been looking after our son for over 2 years. He's developed so much in this time, and loved his time with Emma. She's an excellent communicator and gives us both written and verbal updates regularly. She's also highly organised, planning her holidays an eye-watering distance in advance, and thinking about different activities for the children in her care depending on the weather.
Most importantly though she's caring, supportive and fun. Knowing that when we drop off our son he's going somewhere he enjoys being, with a person who really cares for him, is a huge achivement. Anybody who gets a spot with Emma is really lucky, and we've felt that way.
We have been so lucky to find Emma. Our daughter comes back yabbering away about her fun-filled days. She absolutely loves going and her development has soared since being there. Emma’s house is beautiful, light and spacious - the perfect place for a child. She cooks meals that put me to shame! She is so in demand and we feel so lucky that we got a place and that our daughter spends her days with her.
My children have been looked after by Emma since my youngest was 10 months (he’s now 3.5 years). When I tell local mums in the area that our childminder is Emma, they always say “wow you’re so lucky, I’ve heard she’s amazing” and they are absolutely spot on.
My oldest child is now at school, so is no longer in Emma’s care and my youngest child will be going to preschool soon, so devastatingly will no longer be being looked after by Emma. She has been such a huge part of our lives over the past few years and we are all very sad to leave her as she really does feel a part of the family (although I will be pestering her for after school spots).
I honestly couldn’t have asked for a more perfect person to look after my children. My transition back to work, leaving 2 small children, was only bearable because of Emma. She has the loveliest nature, making my children feel safe, heard and encouraged. She’s very calm, yet attentive. She has conversations with them, using their name, talking with them as people not at them as children which is something that has really stood out to me. She knows their likes, dislikes, knows when they are not themselves. She remembers and lets me know funny things my son has said or done throughout the day when I do the pick up. I trust her entirely.
My son loves being in Emma’s care. He loves her cooking (he tells me “I only like Emma’s carrots”), they go out for walks, they go to playgroup and interact with other children. He was very excited recently and came home telling me about the “chrysalis” of the butterflies that were recently grown at Emma’s.
To sum Emma up:
- Best childminder you could ever have the pleasure of caring for your children
- Best decorated house on Halloween in Muswell Hill
- The only house that a rockstar Santa Claus visits
Emma is beyond brilliant and we consider ourselves incredibly lucky to have found her. Calm and nurturing, with a fantastic sense of humour, she's created a really special environment. She's incredibly astute and responsive to each child's individual character and needs and we felt our son was really 'seen'. He flourished from the get go and was always bubbling with excitement on his way home, high on his various adventures with the gang. He's a very talkative toddler and Emma took his imagination and ran with it... Watching the two of them chatting and laughing away together was genuinely magic. It's also worth noting that our son began napping in a cot (from day 1!), something he had NEVER done before... Yet more evidence of her magical powers.
I should mention the healthy, interesting meals Emma cooks and the thoughtful activities and trips she organises... all of which are hugely important. What sets Emma apart is the sense of warmth and contentment that runs through the house. The children are incredibly happy and settled with her - confident to express themselves and their feelings.
We sadly had to move away from the area and I can honestly say leaving Emma was the hardest part. Our son continues to talk about her months later and often asks to look through the little memory book she kindly gave him on his last day. He had an incredibly unique and playful bond with Emma and it's one we will always be grateful for. If there's a space for your child - SNAP IT UP and cherish every moment. Emma is truly the best kept secret in North London.
Emma has been a lifesaver and had our little 2 year old boy for the last 3 months, 1 day a week while I’ve been working full time leading up to my maternity leave with my second baby. We instantly liked Emma when we met her, not only was she very professional, organised and has a lovely house and garden on the side of a park, but most importantly she instantly showed particular interest in our little boy asking lots of questions and showing him round the toys in her house and this was very important to us.
It was amazing to see how quickly he settled in, day one he ate and slept well and was very happy when we picked him up. He came out the second week saying ‘Emma like’ and how he ‘liked the park’ which is the first time we’d heard him say he likes things. He’s always been very happy to be dropped off and I’ve noticed his verbal communication improving whilst he’s been with her as has his physical development with all the trips to the park.
She cooks a wonderful variety of food and I’m pleased Laurie’s been exposed to a more varied diet than usual, eating more exotic meals than I would make at home ( or that he would eat for me anyway).
We are sad to be leaving Emma, but will certainly look / hope to return to her when I go to back to work after maternity. We would absolutely recommend 💯.
I don't feel it's overselling it to say Emma is the best thing that happened to our family and we feel very fortunate that we found her.
Our daughter has been with Emma since just before her 2nd birthday and is still with her before and after school now she has started reception, it really is a testament to Emma that the transition into school has gone so smoothly.
At each stage of our daughters development Emma has been there not only to practically support her but to also provide us Parents with advice and guidance which has been invaluable.
Through Emma, our daughter has had the chance to experience both a nurturing home from home environment as well as having lots of experiences outside going to playgroups, day trips, various playgrounds, parks and local woods. Emma is always very conscientious about planning activities that are appropriate for the stage the children are at as well as really encouraging them to make relationships with the other children -learning both from the older ones and through helping the younger ones.
As parents we've always felt so reassured knowing our daughter is with Emma - as we know she is getting the best possible care as well as having huge amounts of fun!
Can't recommend enough!
Emma is an outstanding childcare provider and our daughter absolutely loves her.
Emma is kind, professional, organized, fun and a great cook!!! Our daughter clearly enjoys spending time in Emma’s environment!
Emma’s service is high quality, friendly, flexible and understanding of different needs!
We would highly recommend Emma to other parents. We feel very lucky to have found Emma.
When my husband went back to work after his stint as a stay at home parent I was at a total loss - we had never had our children looked after by a child carer or nanny before, and I was very stressed about finding just the right person to take care of my kids before and after school; someone they would enjoy spending time around, somewhere they were safe, and somewhere they were treated with care and consideration with healthy boundaries. From the first moment I met Emma, I knew she was the perfect person - she was relaxed, friendly, organised, and she engaged with my kids in a way that made them feel safe and made me feel that with her they would be beautifully taken care of, and I was right! From the first moment with Emma I’ve had total peace of mind. My kids could be funny and silly, or serious and considered; Emma took it all in her stride, and provided a safe place for them to feel looked after. She dropped them at Coldfall School Monday to Thursday and was always on time. In the evenings, they raved about her dinners, and there was always fun to be had, whether playing in the garden on a sunny day or talking about riddles and puzzles, her famous annual Christmas party and playing with the other children who became friends at Emma’s place. Now that they’ve just ‘graduated’ into being old enough to get themselves to and from school, we’re going to miss Emma horribly! She’s part of the family, and we’re so grateful for all of the help and care she’s given to our kids, and for how well she nurtured them. I would heartily recommend Emma to anyone looking for an incredible child minder, who provides care and compassion, as well as structure and boundaries. I feel so lucky that I found her, and I’m sure that everyone who has the opportunity to have their kids spend time with her feels the same way!
It is with a heavy heart I write this as I do not want to leave! We are moving away and so are forced to. Emma is incredible, the best thing we have ever given our child and I am gutted that we have to now take her away! She is also pretty excellent in general - great fun and doesn't take anything too seriously.
Our son started with her just before he turned 1, he is now 2.5 and Emma has become an integral part of his- and our- life. She fosters such an excellent environment where the children can be their own unique selves. Our little boy has made real friends while at Emma's and she nurtures and encourages those relationships. Day trips, playgroups, parks, woods, educational based fun, normal fun, playing in the garden, arts and crafts - you name it, Emma does it. On top of that plethora of excellence she also cooks a wide variety of delicious food and he eats it! Incredible! Our son has utterly thrived in Emma's care. He is a well-rounded and smashing little lad and I know that much of that is down to Emma. She is also very generous with her time, if I ever have any concerns about his development etc she will always make time to discuss it. Emma also lives right by the park, a nice touch.
If you need a childminder and Emma has space, bite her arm off to have it.
Emma has been our childminder for over seven years – first with my son, and then my daughter. She is truly incredible and I cannot imagine our children’s lives without her, she has enriched them immeasurably. Calm, engaged and funny, Emma’s care is warm and meticulous. The environment Emma creates for the children is varied and stimulating, with lots of time outdoors in local parks and woods, at local playgroups, or at home and in the garden with great toys and learning toys/games. Emma’s knowledge of the early years’ curriculum and children’s age appropriate needs is exceptional. A beautiful, nurturing environment where children flourish.
