About Me
I have had the pleasure of working as an after-school nanny for the last 7years with two wonderful famiies however due to the children being much older now and changed circumstances. I am now looking for a new venture, preferably long term, with a family who requires a part time nanny.. Private nannying is something I’ve always wanted to progress to due to my experiences of one to one care with Special Educational Needs children and those who demonstrate challenging behaviour within educational environments. I have a great passion for working with children and nothing gives me more satisfaction than contributing towards the education and upbringing of young minds.
I am a naturally well - spoken person with a confident happy persona and also take huge pride in assuring my presentation and mannerisms are always flawlessly professional. From working in various childcare settings, with children from birth to 18 years old, I am confident in dealing with any queries, running errands and coping with multiple tasks with an excellent manner. Most importantly I’m also assertive whilst working within an intimate environment and thrive of working with children, hence why I’ve stayed in this field for over two decades. As an out-going driven person, I ensure I set myself personal goals and work as an individual towards them, a trait I believe children should also be encouraged to do with the help of an adult, leading examples to aid and develop a child's sense of well-being and esteem.
My Experience
From my experience within previous roles and my current position, in conjunction to supervising pupils, I am confident in providing stimulating activities and a nurturing environment to aid learning as well as delivering discipline and structure. I am responsible for working as part of a multi-agency team with parents, head teachers, teachers, support staff, therapists and school nurses. I often have to provide assistance to children who have difficulty eating on their own by using conflict resolution strategies to help the young person in resolving issues during the meal periods. Due to this, I am confident with providing children with healthy balanced meals and competent in supporting specific dietary requirements. Furthermore, my duties include being unhesitant in reporting all injuries, accidents, illnesses and any discipline issues to the appropriate authority immediately. These transferable skills are just as significant when working within a family environment as effective communication between a child’s primary and secondary carer is paramount to the quality of their care.
I own my car and would be more than happy to use it for work if need be. I have previously carried out first aid courses which were extremely useful to me as I am now confident in carrying out CPR as a qualified First Aider. Doreen has been with our family for the last 1.5 years, taking care of our two boys (ages 8 and 11). It is with great reluctance that we ended our time together due to a change in our personal circumstances.
Over the last year and a half, Doreen has become part of our family. She was our after school nanny, picking the boys up from school, supporting them with their homework, and cooking dinner - the boys love her cooking (and prefer it over mine). Our youngest has especially bonded with her over cafe trips while waiting for our oldest to get out of school, her helping him with his homework, and playing games.
She even attended, in her own time, some sporting events on the weekend and our son’s first communion.
